Check-in | Stair Climb | Finish Line Party

Check-in

  • HOW: NEW THIS YEAR: Climbers will be assigned staggered check-in times, which will range from 5:30 pm—6:45 pm. Detailed information will be posted on the Story by Story website by Friday evening, October 16—check here. Each climber will receive an assigned check-in time by email on Monday, October 19.

  • WHERE: Check-in for all registrants, including Virtual Climbers, will take place on the Lexington Avenue side of the building, between 46th and 47th Streets
  • WHAT YOU'LL GET: Upon checking in, climbers will receive their Story by Story t-shirts, timing chips and bib numbers and can confirm their route length. Identify your emergency contact information to write on your bib before you come. Timing chips will be attached to climbers' bibs

  • WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR STUFF: Coat and baggage check will be available in the lobby. This is a "hands-free" event—all items must be checked. Please note that Her Justice is not responsible for lost or stolen items—limit your valuables as much as possible
  • WHAT TO WEAR: Participants are asked to come already dressed for climbing. Changing areas will be limited

Stair climb

  • All climbers must be at least 16-years-old
  • Every five seconds, event staff will cue a single climber to enter each stairwell, to avoid congestion
  • Most climbers will finish their climb on the 43rd floor, inside the building. Short Route climbers will finish on the 22nd floor
  • Slower climbers should stay to the right, with faster climbers passing on the left
  • Rest areas (with water, restrooms and medical personnel) are located in the building. Please note that water and food will not be allowed in the stairwells
  • Safety assistants will be located on every third floor to assist you or direct you to an elevator. The phone number for an emergency help line will also be printed on everyone's bib. In addition, medical staff will be present on-site throughout the event
  • Extreme Climbers' weighted belts will be collected at the Finish Line on the 43rd floor
  • We will try to accommodate late-arriving climbers, but cannot guarantee participation if you arrive after your assigned check-in time. Please arrive on time

Finish line party—you did it!

  • Team members can arrange to meet at the finish line party if they are finishing their climbs at different times
  • Climbers can relax and enjoy refreshments and music at the party, courtesy of BatalaNYC and our DJ. Complimentary photography stations will also be available
  • For Virtual Climbers, who are only attending the party, please arrive at 6:15 pm or later
  • Make sure to stay for our speaking program at 8:00 pm. We will announce some of our fastest climbers!
  • Have an old cell phone you aren’t using? Our sponsor, Verizon, will be collecting phones at the party, to be donated to domestic violence victims. Learn more
  • PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accommodate climbers' guests at the party who are not registered for the event

Last minute changes

This is a big event and we want it to run smoothly for you, so we discourage last minute changes. But life happens. If you need to make any changes the day of the climb, please go to the Help Desk and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

If it is absolutely necessary to make route or climber category changes upon arrival, please go to the check-in area first to pick up your bib. Please arrive early and give yourself extra time to make registration changes.
