Check-in | Opening ceremony | Stair climb | Finish line party

1411 Broadway at 39th Street, NYC

Check-in
5:30 pm–6:45 pm

• Check-in will take place on the Westside Plaza of the building, 7th Avenue between 39th and 40th Streets. Virtual climbers are welcome and are also required to check-in on the Westside Plaza

• Event staff and volunteers check in on the 31st floor

• Press and speakers check in on the Eastside Plaza, near the Opening Ceremony stage (the Broadway side of the building)

• Please note: all climbers must register online, in advance of the event. Online registration will end October 17 at 9:00 am.
  

• Upon checking in, climbers will receive their Story by Story^® t-shirts, timing chips and bib numbers and can confirm their route length. Climbers will write their emergency contact information on their bibs

• If it is absolutely necessary to make route or climber category changes upon arrival, please go to the Check-in area first. Please arrive early and give yourself extra time to make registration changes

• Timing chips will be attached to climbers' shoes. We advise climbers to wear shoes with laces, which works best for timing chips
  
  Please note: Climbers who register between October 16 (9:00 am) and October 17 (9:00 am) will not receive timing chips, due to logistical deadlines. These participants will not be timed during their climbs.

• The Help Desk (in lobby) can collect cash or check donations from climbers

• Coat and baggage check will be available in the lobby. Please arrive early and give yourself extra time to check any personal items. This is a "hands-free" event—all items must be checked. Please note that inMotion is not responsible for lost or stolen items—limit your valuables as much as possible

• Extreme Climbers will pick up their weighted belts in the lobby

• Participants are asked to come dressed for climbing. Changing areas (on the 10th floor) will be limited

Opening ceremony
6:45 pm–7:00 pm

• Climbers can engage in a warm up session with fitness trainer Adrian Tellado, Evolution Pro Fitness

• InMotion staff and special guests will welcome guests. Special guests include: Fox 5 Sports Anchor Duke Castiglione, NBA legend John Starks, Manhattan Deputy Borough President Rosemonde Pierre-Louis and WNBA all-star Teresa Edwards.

Stair climb
7:00 pm–9:00 pm

• Every five seconds, event staff will cue a single climber to enter the stairwell, to avoid congestion. Some 42-floor climbers may experience a wait of 25–35 minutes in order to insure the safety of all participants

• When the climb begins, participants will be organized into their climber/route categories. 42-floor Elite Athletes, One Equity Partners Challenge members and Extreme Climbers will be the first groups to start climbing

• Slower climbers should stay to the right, with faster climbers passing on the left

• Rest areas (with water, restrooms and medical personnel) are located in the building (10th and 29th floors). Please note that water and food will not be allowed in the stairwells

• Safety assistants will be located on every third floor to assist you or direct you to an elevator. The phone number for an emergency help line will also be printed on everyone's bib. In addition, medical staff from Lenox Hill Hospital will be present on-site throughout the event

• Extreme Climbers' weighted belts will be collected on the 40th floor. They will climb their last two floors without their belt

• We will try to accommodate late-arriving climbers, but cannot guarantee participation if you arrive after 7:00 pm. Please arrive no later than 7:00 pm.

Finish line party
7:15 pm–9:00 pm

• Please note: because of space limitations, unfortunately we cannot accommodate climbers' guests at the party who are not registered for the event

• Everyone will complete their climb on the roof, with beautiful views of Manhattan and a photo session in front of the Empire State Building or other landmarks

• All climbers who reach the roof will receive a medal of achievement

• After reaching the roof, all climbers will walk down to the 39th floor and take a freight elevator to the party (35th floor) or the lobby, if not attending the party

• Then relax and enjoy refreshments and music at party

• In the event of rain, photographs will be taken indoors on the 35th floor

• Climbers can continue to fundraise until Friday, November 16th, when we will award the top individual and team fundraising prizes
