Your questions answered

REGISTRATION

Can I use the same email address to register multiple people?

No, participants can not share the same email address. Your email address is also your username for the fundraising site and is unique for each participant.

Who should I contact with questions about the website?

Please contact Classy's technical support by logging into your personal fundraising page! Classy is our peer-to-peer fundraising software company and they will be able to give you the support you need when it comes to the fundraising website. You may send them an email, ask a question using the Chat Help Box or search their resource guides.

When does registration end?

Online registration will close on Sunday, October 15th, at 11:59PM.

What if I need to cancel my registration?

Please email storybystory@herjustice.org. Please note your $50 registration fee is not refundable.

If I participated in Story by Story last year, can I use my old login information?

Yes, you can use last year’s login information. Your username is the email address used for your registration in 2016.

If you participated in 2015 or earlier, your login information is no longer active and you must create a new username and password.

FUNDRAISING

Is there a fundraising requirement?

Yes, there is a $200 fundraising minimum for all participants, including virtual climbers, in addition to a $50 registration fee.

Participants must have personally raised, contributed or pledged at least $250 (including the registration fee) before Wednesday, October 18th, in order to climb and/or attend the event.

Your credit card information is not captured or saved during the registration process. You will be notified before the event about any remaining balance and ways in which to fulfill it.

We encourage everyone to fundraise beyond the fundraising requirement — every dollar raised helps Her Justice clients! Last year, our top fundraiser raised more than $19,000!

If my team has raised a lot of money, but I have not reached the $250 fundraising minimum, can I still climb?

No, you cannot climb unless you personally raise, pledge or contribute at least $200 to the Story by Story® event, and pay the $50 registration fee.

How do I fundraise?

For fundraising tips, please view our Fundraising Toolkit .

Her Justice is here to help with your fundraising efforts – feel free to contact us with any questions!

What should I do if my company intends to underwrite my $50 registration fee and/or $200 fundraising requirement?

For climbers who are being financially sponsored by their firms, please make arrangements with your employer to be reimbursed, or have your employer contact Her Justice (storybystory@herjustice.org) to coordinate with Her Justice directly. Your employer can donate via check or credit card on the Story by Story website. Payment details must be emailed to storybystory@herjustice.org no later than Wednesday, October 18th.

What if someone wants to support my climb by giving me a check or cash?

Please download a hard copy of the donation form . Once the form is filled out, mail the check (and hard copy of the donation form) to Her Justice at 100 Broadway, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10005.

Please discourage people from giving you cash. If you do receive cash, please deposit the cash in your bank account and write a check or money order payable to "Her Justice," then mail the check/money order to Her Justice (with the donation form, so it can be properly credited to the donor).

STAIR CLIMB

Are there any age restrictions?

Climbers must be 16 or older by October 19, 2017. Due to liability issues, we are not able to accept registrations from any climbers under 16 years old.

If I signed up as a virtual climber can I still go to the event?

Yes, virtual climbers can check in between 6:15–7:30 pm. Like actual climbers, virtual climbers must raise (or personally donate) at least $250 in order to attend the event. If you do not plan to attend the event, please notify storybystory@herjustice.org by, October 18th.

What is the climber schedule?

Climbers will check in at staggered times which will be posted on the website before the event. We hope that all climbers will be able to join us at the after-party following to climb!

What should I wear at the event?

Please wear walking or running shoes and comfortable, flexible clothing suitable for exercise. Please note that we will not have a changing space for climbers – please come ready to climb!

Will the climb take place in the event of bad weather?

We don't let the weather stop us from climbing! We climb inside so the event will take place rain, snow or shine.

Will food and drinks be provided?

Yes, water and snacks will be available along the climb route in the rest areas. More refreshments will be available during the finish line party. You may want to eat something light before arriving as well. If you have dietary restrictions or needs, please plan accordingly. Drinks and snacks are not allowed in the stairwell.

Where does the climb end?

All climbers will finish their climb on the 34th floor, inside The Helmsley Building, and then head to the after-party!

Can I change my climb route when I arrive at the event?

Routes cannot be changed at the event. If you need to change your route or climber category, please contact Her Justice (storybystory@HerJustice.org or 646.442.1364) by Sunday, October 15th at 11:59 pm.

What if I get tired or don't feel well while climbing?

Climber safety is our utmost concern. Climbers can take as many breaks as necessary in the rest area. Medical personnel will be located in the rest areas, as well as stationed throughout the building. An elevator will be available to anyone who is not able to continue climbing stairs. Climbers are not required to finish their route, just to do the best they can. If you choose to discontinue your climb for any reason, we do ask that you leave the stairwell and go to a rest area, for your safety and the safety of other climbers.

Can my friends and family (who are NOT registered to participate) come to the finish line party?

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate guests who are not registered for the event.

Will photographs be taken at the event?

Yes, Her Justice photographers will be present during registration, the stair climb and the finish line party. Photos will be made available to all participants after the event.

By accepting the waiver upon registration, you have consented to be photographed at Story by Story® You are giving Her Justice permission to use your image on its web site, print pieces and social media outlets. If you do not wish to be photographed, please alert the Her Justice photographers during the event.
